Mechanism:reduces blood viscosity by effects on erythrocyte deformability, platelet adhesion & aggregation & it improve oxygenation of eschemic tissues.
Uses Peripheral arterial occlusive disease —cerebral circulatory disorders e.g. difficulty in concentration, vertigo, decrease of memory circulatory disturbances of the eye or internal ear associated with impaired sight or hearing. Side effects & Precautions Pentoxifylline can cause nausea, dizziness, and headache. Flushing, angina, palpitations, cardiac arrhythmias. avoided in cerebral haemorrhage, acute myocardial infarction. should be used with caution in patients with ischaemic heart disease or hypotension. The Dose reduced in patients with hepatic or renal impairment.
