Iron depleting agents (for ttt of iron &Aluminum toxicity) Used in ttt of iron overload in patients with thalassaemia Deferiprone : iron chelator used in the ttt of iron overload in patients with thalassaemia for whom desferrioxamine is unsuitable or ineffective. In adults and Children: over 6 years it may be given by mouth in Doses of 25 mg/kg three times daily. Doses above 100 mg/kg daily are not recommended. Dosage: 25mg/kg. 3 times daily.
