Mechanism: lt is rapidly converted in the liver to 3.25-dihydroxy vitamin D which is the metabolite of vitamin D. it acts as a regulator ofcalcium and phosphate homeostasis .
Dosage:adult & Children: above 20Kg. Body weight 1 mcg. Children: below 20 gm. 0.05 mcgm./kg./ Day.
Dosagenust be adjusted to avoid hypercalcemia .
Uses disease due to disturbances in the calcium metabolism, in consequence ofreduced endegenous production .25-dhydroxy vit D3 2- renal osteodystrophy, postoperative or idiopathic hypoparathyrodism ,vit. D resistant rickets or osteomalacia, malabsortion ofcalcium and Osteoporosis.
