Cefpirome:a fourth-generation, stable to a wide range of beta-lactamases. With activity similar to the thirdgeneration cephalosporin cefotaxime , but more active in vitro against staphylococci, enterococci, some Enterobacteriaceae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Uses: infections of the urinary tract, respiratory tract, and skin, and also septicaemia and infections in immunocompromised patients.
Dosage: i.v. over 3 to 5 minutes or infusion over 20 to 30 minutes 1 or 2 of cefpirome every 12 hours.
