Indications: 1- Venous thromboembolic disease (prevention of blood clot formation in the vens) e.g. those which may be associated with orthopedic or general surgery. 2- Prophylaxis of venous thromboembolic disease in bedridden patient due to acute illnesses, respiratory failure, seveere infection, rheumatic disease .
Side effects & Precautions: As for Low-molecular-weight Heparin calciums,. Patients with low body-weight may be at higher risk of bleeding. bleeding with enoxaparin may be reduced by the slow I.V. injection of protamine sulfate; 1 mg of protamine sulfate is inhibit the effects of 1 mg (100 units) ofenoxaparin sodium.(Interactions:Look Heparin calcium)
Dosage:2000 : 4000 i.u. s.c. once daily & continued as long as there is venous embolism, (average 7:10 days) 2deep & complicated deep vein thrombosis the Dose may be 100 i.u./kg. once or twice daily. 3- unstable angina 100 i.u/kg. every 12 hrs. for 2:8 days.
