what medicine IsoTretinoin 10؟

IsoTretinoin is a retinoid. It is the acid form of vitamin A. IsoTretinoin is given by mouth for the treatment of severe acne , that has not responded to other measures; It is not indicated for uncomplicated adolescent acne. IsoTretinoin has also been tried in a number neoplastic disease.
Side effects c+similar to vit. A : dryness of skin with scaling, fragility, cheilitis, pruritus, epistaxis, conjunctivitis, dry sore mouth, and palmo-plantar exfoliation. Corneal opacities, dry eyes, visual disturbances, skeletal hyperostosis,. Elevation of serum triglycerides, hepatic enzymes,... etc
C/I: during Pregnancy & who are plain to be pregnant as it is highly teratogenic, Its use with vitamin A should be avoided because of additive toxic effects. bTetracyclines with isoTretinoin associated with benign intracranial hypertension
Dosage: For the topical treatment of acne a gel containing 0.05% applied sparingly once or twice daily. A therapeutic response may not be evident for 6 to 8 weeks
Dosage:0.5 mg/kg. divided into 2 Doses daily for 2-4 months if no improvement after 1 month the Dose increased to Img/kg.
