Everolimus is a derivative of sirolimus. Used in the prevention of graft rejection in patients undergoing renal or cardiac transplantation as part of an immunosuppressive regimen that includes ciclosporin and corticosteroids.
Adverse effects: Leucopenia, thrombocytopenia,and anaemia occur commonly with everolimus.
Dosage: 750 mcg. Twice daily, begun as soon as possible after transplantation, and given at the same time as ciclosporin , Doses should be reduced in patients with hepatic impairment.
