Trastuzumab is a humanised monoclonal antibody directed against a cell surface protein produced by the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) gene.
Uses: used in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer.
Dosage: alone or followed by a taxane, is 4 mg/kg initially, by I.V. infusion in 250 mL of sodium chloride 0.9% over 90 minutes. Followed by 2 mg/kg over 30 minutes at weekly intervals. HER2 may also be overexpressed in Other epithelial cancers, and trastuzumab may used in non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic, prostate, and ovarian maliznancies.
