Mechanism:lnterferes with metabolic pathways of amino acids leading from Glutamic acid acid to the citric acid cycle and urea. Vinblastine has an effect on cell energy production required for mitosis and interferes with nucleic acid synthesis. Reversal of anti tumour effect by Glutamic acid acid or tryptophan has occurred.
Uses Hodgkin's & non Hodgkin's lymphomas, mycosis nngicides, testicular carcinoma, kaposi's sarcoma.
Dosage:Adults For I.V. use only. Initial : 3.7mg / m2 single dose . Increments at weekly intervals depending on
WBC counts (counts should not come below 3000 / mm3). Children: Maximum Dosage: 18.5mg / m2. Initial
2.5mg/m2 single dose . Increments at weekly intervals depending on WBC counts. Maximum Dose 12.5mg / m2.
